Eat This: Hot Diggity's Tamarind Coconut Wings

I should have hopped on these tamarind coconut wings, a monthly special from Hot Diggity, a few weeks ago when they debuted, instead of waiting until today. Now that there's only a little more than a week left before they're gone, I'm kicking myself.

Always accommodating us vegetarians and vegans, Hot Diggity's vegan seitan wings (available in real chicken, too) coated in a sweet and mildly spicy tamarind sauce with coconut flakes, cilantro, sesame seeds, tomatoes, and chilis tastes like a blend of Indian and Chinese — an Indo-Chinese General Tso's, if you will.

I liked these wings so much, I put in an extra order to-go. Add rice and broccoli, and it's called dinner. Get on this before it's gone!

I had similar seitan wings this weekend at a kid's b-day party at North Bowl in Northern Liberties.

They were SLAMMIN'. They look exactly like yours, so I'm guessing both these places are ordering them from somewhere...wonder where! They also taste like the seitan wings from Singapore (sans sauce)...which I adore. Could they be supplying these other guys? Or is everyone making their own (doubt it)?

Anyhoo, seitan wings for everyone!

XOXO

Dawn - Not sure if Hot Diggity is making their own seitan, but they definitely are making their own sauce and frying these wings to order.

Nice!

I have some ideas about what is in that seitan recipe...but I need to take the plunge and start deep frying to get them right.

Hummmmm...

These look delicious! I'm so sorry that I just saw this post (I have been off the reading blogs religiously bandwagon since leaving the desk job).

Let's fry some 'wings' in the near future :)

Oh man, those look amazing! I really love Hot Diggity's veggie dogs, I'm so happy they're expanding into the rest of the veggie universe. Hopefully they'll make these wings a regular occurrence on the menu!
